Family Law Early Intervention Unit

What Legal Aid can help you with:
- Problems seeing your children.
- Arrangements to look after children within the family.
- Property problems after separation.
- Child support.
- Problems with the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) (once called FaCS or DOCS).
- We can assist you to apply for a grant of legal aid and connect you with other legal aid lawyers, court duty lawyers, private practitioners, or family mediation services.
Services Legal Aid provides:
- Legal advice and information.
- Finding a family mediation service
- Finding a lawyer to represent you in an ongoing case if you are eligible for legal aid.
- Helping you to apply for a grant of legal aid.
- Referring you to court duty services.
- Writing a letter, or contacting an agency, such as a government department, on your behalf.
There is no means or merit test.
Centrelink Outreach
A community engagement officer from Centrelink attends the Manly Community Hub Drop-in on Wednesdays from 10am – 12pm to provide assistance to our service users.

Manly Business Chamber
The Manly Business Chamber is one of the strongest in New South Wales, providing a platform to help members prosper and succeed through a productive working partnership with all levels of Government and other community organisations. The Chamber acts as the collective voice of businesses and seeks the involvement and participation of a cross-section representative to:
- participate in debates on matters of public importance
- provide exposure for our members and their businesses
- encourage the retention of community dollars within Manly to maintain and strengthen a prosperous business climate
- actively promotes Manly’s attractions and lifestyle with a view to drawing new residents, visitors and tourists
- pursues objectives and strategies to favour development in Manly
- recognises the need for links between Chamber, Council and tourism bodies when working towards common goals
- provide the opportunity for all members to prosper within the Manly region whenever possible.
Your side care finder
This program is a free service. Care finders help people access care services and connect with other relevant supports in the community. Some older people need extra, intensive support to access aged care services and other supports in the community. It exists to support vulnerable people – who have no one else who can support them – to learn about, apply for and set up support services.

The care finder service is not available for everyone. It is specifically for vulnerable older people.
Who is eligible:
- People who are uncomfortable or mistrusting of government due to past discrimination or trauma
- LGBTQIA+ community.
- Forgotten Australians.
- Care Leavers
- Refugees or migrants from conflict zones.
- People with language barriers and no support.
- People with cognitive impairments and no support
- People at risk of homelessness or who will be in an unsafe situation if they do not receive services
- People at risk of elder abuse
- Veterans
- People struggling with alcohol and other drugs dependence.
- People who have a disability, impairment, or mental health concerns.
- People who have communication, literacy or learning difficulties.
- People who have difficulty understanding information and making decisions.

SMART RECOVERY GROUP
Odyssey House Community Services offers Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART) program to support and assist people concerned about drug and/or alcohol use. Participants will learn new skills to overcome challenges that may be impacting not only their life and health but their friends, family, and wider community.
SMART PARTICIPANTS WILL GAIN SKILLS AND SUPPORT WITH:
- Focus on the addictive behaviour and not on the substance itself.
- Use evidence-based tools and techniques.
- Mutual aid: participants share practical solutions as a group.
- Concentrates on the ‘here and now’. Last 7 days, next 7 days
- Goal setting: set your own achievable plan for the week ahead.
Mentoring men
Is a free service that carefully matches you with another adult male who is trained to listen, support and help you define meaning, hope and goals in your life.
Mentoring Men is made up of Mentees and Mentors. Mentee, a man who seeks to improve their life with support from a Mentor.
Mentor, a man who volunteers his time to meet, listen and help a Mentee in his life journey.

Lifeline Financial Counselling
Lifeline Northern Beaches FREE service allows you to see a financial counsellor who is a community worker, with no conflict of interest. They can act as a negotiator and advocate on behalf of people who are at financial risk, without you incurring any out-of-pocket costs.

Employment and disability Service
Ability Options provide free employment and disability services. They support people and foster inclusion in the community. They operate services to support people with disabilities and those whose lives are changed as a range of accidents, unemployment and disadvantage.
Their Disability Services support people through accommodation, respite care, support coordination, community services and therapy. Their Employment Services assist job seekers, including parents, indigenous communities, school leavers and people with disability, to find work.
