Amir is an immigrant who found himself homeless in our community. He moved to another country where he was persecuted for his cultural background, and got refugee status to migrate to Australia. He found himself safe but without the security of a home, and was sleeping rough with a partner. Our Support Workers helped him find temporary accommodation, and were able to extend his stay until LocalKind’s advocacy led to him finding social housing. He is now housed and has the basics to build a safe life, and hopefully one of comfort, and he still often comes to get support from LocalKind and credits us for helping him accomplish something he couldn’t have done alone.
